Great Family Days Out At Bristol Zoo - Travel - Destinations

You're on holiday and the kids are getting fractious, what better way to cheer the whole family up than a trip to the zoo? A visit to Bristol Zoo is certainly one to remember - whatever age you are. Boasting many different enclosures and a whole range of animals from all around the world, as well as fun attractions sure to banish boredom - such as the amazing Zooropia aerial adventure slide, where visitors of all ages are able to enjoy a bird's eye view of some of the zoo's favourite animals, including gibbons, gorillas and lemurs.

Don't worry if you're not great with heights though as there are plenty of enclosures to see and animals to visit down on ground level too. Some of Bristol Zoo's most visited attractions have to be the Seal and Penguin Coasts - where you can get up close to these water lovers - and Explorer Creek, where three main areas can be found - a tropical bird house, a water play area and a walk-through parrot feeding area.

The reptile house is also a good choice for the brave, and has a nice rainforest theme, and the aquarium is also lovely. However, those who aren't fans of cold-blooded creatures can visit the zoo's terrace to say hello to lions, keas, red pandas, fruit bats and flamingos. An especially nice touch is Twilight World, a section of the zoo designed to let visitors see the way nocturnal animals behave at night - even when they are visiting during the day.

You won't just find animals in the zoo either. Bristol also features some gorgeous gardens where you'll find lots of plants and unusual trees to enjoy. When you need a little refreshment you can have a seat in the nicely themed Coral Cafe and enjoy a nice lunch or find a selection of drinks and snacks. The chances are the kids will also want to pay a visit to the gift shop, where you're sure to find some nice souvenirs to take home again.

Located in Clifton, there are plenty of transport options for getting to Bristol Zoo - including numerous buses and trains and a free park and ride scheme. This should make it easy for you to enjoy a great day at the zoo no matter where in the city your Bristol hotel is located. Make sure you get a good sleep the night before and eat a decent breakfast though, you're sure to need the energy to help you make the most of an excellent day at the zoo.
